A few weeks ago, I went to Swaziland. While there, I went abseiling, a great sport where one climbs down a rope in rock climbing. The view from the top was breathtaking as it was scary. However, I made it to the bottom!
The highlight of the trip, however, was abseiling. We hiked quite a bit to get to the abseiling spot. You can actually see the abseiling spot from way across the water. My first thought was “what have you just got yourself into”. The hike was great, with very beautiful signts to see.
We finally got to the spot where the falls actually begin.
By the time we got our gear on and were ready to begin, I seriously considered quitting! It took a bit of coaxing for get me to step my foot out of the comfort zone.
I did have a bit of a false start and landed on my bottom, however, I finally managed to get up and it was smooth sailing – very slow sailing at that – all the way. Some of the images are from the bottom of the fall. Quiet breathtaking and of course once you get at the bottom you want to abseil again, the second time is a charm! Much more relaxed, the distance was only 20 metres but it felt like a whole Kilometre!
I definitely look forward to doing it again! Below is a slideshow of my trip, enjoy!
