We ran a similar programme when Kenya voted at the end of last
year, and we can only hope the Americans enjoy a post-election period
more peaceful than ours.
Nairobi reports that there are elections in Kisumu. Anyone down by the
lake with better information please send it in, but our sources tell us
there is some sort of voting for Senator Obama going on. Voting opens
0800 and ends 1900 at the site where Ukwala Supermarket stood before
the elections, turnout is expected to be high.
Meanwhile, the Illinois Senator, who enjoys the advantage at the
betting booth, is also favoured by the earliest voters, the citizens of
Dixville, a village New Hampshire. According to CNN news reports Dixville Notch has almost always voted Republican in the past, save for one year when Minnesota's Hubert Humphrey was picked over Richard Nixon in 1968. The village has now more Democrats as residents than it does Republicans so it is certainly no surprise that Obama carried the village.
The first polls will close at 6pmCST including key battlegrounds: Indiana, Georgia, Virginia, and Kentucky, while the last polls, California, close at 11pm CST.
