I have been counting Liverpool out, and it pains me more than I can say that they stole a victory from the jaws of defeat last night. It was still something watching a team that has pretensions to the title celebrate wildly for drawing with Birmingham (no offence to the Midland outfit). What stood out the most for me though, was the fact that Steven Gerrard remains inspiring, even as this club goes down, down, down. David Ngog's dive was reminiscent of the very best of Gerrard's and the fact that the old teacher put away the resultant penalty was simply icing on the cake.

It will not have done much for Benitez (the Liverpool boss's blushes) but it will do nicely for any real football fan. Here is the dive in all its spectacular glory, followed by a excerpts from a video manual the FA will find all over Ngog' house. Now there's an apprentice to be proud of.
