Stephen Partington gets cloistered in his second poem on Imagine Culture.

Charcoal ghosts on crack cocaine, the sisters

Queued ahead of me, excited little kids,

Their heads in clouds, their shinning angel-

Brows transfiguring with bliss.

I took a field guide to the Bird Room

And identified each species with a tick.

But - ah! - they fluttered round the glass displays,

Their wimples winging greyly - up to heaven-

Past the yellows and the pink.

And in the gallery, I stood before each artwork,

As we're told a critic should, admiring

Light-and-shade, arrangement and the mood.

They slapped and dashed, a Jackson Pollock,

Here-and-there, their dullard monotone

The void-shade of creation - and a blur

Between the vibrant greens and red.

But in the fossil room, I bound along and laughed

That we had come so stunning far,

Each little leap, the birth of beauty

With the sloping of our brow.

And yet its fragments of hominid

Depressed them with its narrative.

They sauntered through, their soft hands clasped

In piety, their eye fixed far ahead

And simply braved the apeman out,

His hairy loins, his earthly head.

Dear Stephen Derwent Partington !
It is a great pleasure for me, to extend to you my warmest official invitation to attend the First World Peace Poetry Festival Kenya, which will be held from the 1st to the 5th of May 2009 in Nairobi, Kenya at Hope Center auditorium.
I'm very happy to be with you and I want you to share it with all of us. The presence of each one of us is irreplaceable since nobody can substitute who and what we are individually, and in a group, we shall make poetry shine with the light that comes from within our spirit.
I welcome you to share the words that come from the intimacy of our souls, to look into each others eyes, to confirm our faith in peace and humanity defending it with the ink from our pen and to renew our unconditional vows for life. Open mic that will enrich us will be presented and so with our poetry, besides dancing and singing by the Voices Of Hope Choir.
We will be in touch with you until we can all reunite forming a single heart that beats for the love in our Universe.God bless you BIG!

Sincerely,
Walter Keyombe -
United Minds For Peace Society Kenya Executive Committee.
