Uprooted
written by Kim G , April 16, 2009
The attempt succeeded, unfortunately. It seems like uprooting the railway has become the thing to do whenever a group of people want to make a statement. The problem started when KPLC crews went to disconnect illegal electricity connections with escorts from our over enthusiastic boys in blue who proceeded to beat everybody in sight. Kibera people got angry that the government was unleashing force against civilians and yet nothing was being done to Ugandan forces at Migingo. That's when riots erupted and the railway line was uprooted.
