Kenyans serve Kibaki with eviction notice PDF Print E-mail

One wonders where the president derives the confidence from when he talks about being the President for 5 more years. All the signs indicate that his tenancy at State House, will soon come to an end. Is mischief afoot?

The People of The Republic of Kenya hereinafter referrred to as "The Landlords hereby notify Emilio and Lucy Kibaki hereinafter referred to as "The Tenants", that your tenancy of the following premises, to wit: The property at L.R No........... along State House Road, Nairobi, hereinafter referred to as "State House", together with all buildings, sheds, closets, out-buildings, garages and other structures used in connection with said premises, will terminate on 31st December, 2007 following the general elections, and you are now hereby required to surrender possession of said premises to the undersigned or Orange Democratic Movement hereinafter referred to as "The New Tenants" on that day.

Dated; this 19th day of October, 2007.
THE LANDLORDS

Your writer reliably learned, before going to press, that the President has every intention to contest this notice by any means necessary. This attitude, reinforced by statements attributed to the previous tenant of the same property- President Moi- to the effect that "the New Tenants" should be prepared to face harsh realities within the next two weeks because "Watakutana na maisha ya ukweli", warns against complacency. The new tenants must now return to the drawing board, look through their plans and scrutinize the leasehold articles for any possible tricks that could see The Tenants illegitimately try to extend their stay.

Although your writer speaks from a distant land, his soul and his spirit are right in Langata where he grew up and from where he attended the University of Nairobi. It is at the university that he was afforded the opportunity to learn and understand the workings of the treacherous Professor of Politics, Daniel, who is now an advisor to the The Tenants.

The Property

Consequently, your writer's advice is not as farfetched as his distance suggests. Suffice to say, he has all the confidence that "The New Tenants" are not unaware of what he is alluding to. However, it is common knowledge that it is human to err and overlook even the most obvious and simple details. The risk of this is especially heightened in tumultous times like these, time when we overthrow the old order and usher in a new dispensation- the freedom we have thirsted for these 40 years.

Your writer surmises that tenant Emilio's confidence is not without reason. It emanates from a plan he and his inner circle have hatched and are about to unleash on the Landlords and their new Tenants in the next few weeks. The script reads as follows,

· As ODM goes into its own nominations, some fall-out is expected. This will be overplayed by all media in the hands of Emilio's group.

· Steadman Polls by design start showing some rise in Kibaki's popularity with the explanation that PNU has embarked on serious campaigns and that the fall out after ODM nominations is hurting Raila/ODM.

· Bi-weekly Steadman polls show a close race almost too close to call

· Provincial Administration continues to campaign for Kibaki/PNU using government resources.

· ECK completely overhauled, with Kibaki's men at the helm starts preparation for an election "almost too close to call", and the announcement of eventual winner.

· In the meantime huge sums of money (tax-payers and stolen) are exchanging hands.

· The Landlords, The New Tenants (and foreign diplomats as witness) hold a press conference to announce a rigging plot by The Tenants. The Landlord's intention to evict should The Tenant refuse to vacate the premises is published.

· Election Day.

*Italics added.

Now this is the scenario your writer requests his brothers The New Tenants in the Pentagon to ready themselves for. Extensive and detailed consultations with the The Landlords are most crucial to prepare them for filing the eviction papers come 31st December,2007.

No malice is intended againt The Tenants. The desire for their ejection is inspired by their refusal to pay their dues for five years and their continued engagement in activities not in the Landlords' interest. These activities also violate the spirit and the terms of the the lease agreement that Mwai Kibaki, representing The Tenants swore on oath to up-hold. It is also most vexing indeed, that The Tenants now propose to use funds gained illegally from abusing the property to service their arrears and extend their tenancy. Out with them.

Kivuitu= Removals Company?
written by Stephen Wanyama , October 18, 2007
A little premature no? If as Kivuitu has now averred it is impossible to have elections before Christmas, and if the opinion polls are anything to go by, the elections will not come this year.

Kivuitu it seems, is a wily old gun. Yesterday's notice to political parties has now been withdrawn. The announcement about the December date may be a similar antic. Now Kenyans cannot blame him, for he does not want Kenyans to vote in January. Not with schools in session!! Imagine the inconvenience of voting while schools are in session. The man will soon be out of a job.

interesting analogy
written by new day , October 23, 2007
this creative analogy about The landlord and new tenant, kudos. apparently, the tenants moved into the premises 5 years ago and went into sleep while neighbors and passers-by got busy at uprooting flower-beds, urinating on the front yard and inviting shadowy Armenians for night caps in the gardens, much to the landlord's chagrin. but now they are awake again with pleas for an extension. new day.

Lease Will be Renewed
written by cogni , October 24, 2007
The Landlords i.e the People of The Republic of Kenya have not been consulted on this eviction notice.

As a valid land lord I can swear an affidavit that neither myself or any other landlord that I know has been consulted so the purported eviction notice is a fake.

Those purporting to issue this notice on my behalf are conmen. This is a con job by the so called "new tenants" (a bunch of recycled crooks).

As a landlord I look forward to renewing the lease of the current tenant. The tenant has met all the conditions of the lease within any reasonable expectation.

The tenant (Kibaki) has spruced up the dilapidated structure and is in the process of carrying out extensive structural work that he should be given the chance to complete.

The so called new tenants are the dependents of the previous occupant who ran down the premises. They are the same obnoxious thieves and vandals who caused most of the current damage to the country.

For that reason I/We the Landlords people of the Republic of Kenya disavow this fake eviction notice. We further give advance notice of our intention to renew the current occupants lease upon its expiration.

shortest tenancy in history
written by new day , October 25, 2007
5 years tenancy compared to 24 years for the former tenant who was thrown out by unanimous landlord decision, this one will go in the books of the premises history unless the landlords change their minds by grace.

Since some quarters insist that the tenants have a right of extension, but have forgoten to submit signed memorandums, we are still at liberty to spread support for new tenancy.

Aï yawa, another 5 years of indifference, pumbavu callousness, and slow implementation of promises is 5 too much wasted for one lifetime. He should now paint our property and pack. new day.
