It has been a long five years of the Kibaki government. Now we find ourselves in the year of another election looking back at its record.
The Kibaki regime that has been dogged by high level corruption, insecurity and political instability. For many Kenyans it has also been a regime full of retirees who have been recalled back to grab and to trample on the common mwanainchi.
Election time is here wih us and it is at this time, after 5 years, that the mwananchi is offered a say in this country's conduct. The government is aware of the hard task ahead and in wooing the voter have now come up with their usual plan. They are now dishing out money for various projects which had been neglected ever since 2002 when NARC came to power. Recently, the government has given out 1 billion shillings is support of the youth of Kenya. Unfortunately, the money is coming in too late. It is now eight months to election.
Do they think that the youth will be swayed by their generosity? The money will not affect our resolve in anyway and the youths should actually go ahead and utilise the money to the fullest. After all it is tax payers money, our money. But still we know where to cast our votes. The youth in Kenya have been neglected for a long time. When we put up the proposal for the youth parliament, the old guard in the government thought that we are asking for too much. After much struggle, they eventually agreeed to a non-perfoming toothless structure that they controlled in every way. Ours was not an extraordinary request, merely a wish for an equal platform from which we could air our views.
Many youth in Kenya now see ODM-K as the only outfit which has a vision for the youth at heart. This was exhibited when we unanimously voted for the a new constitution in in the referendum. We supported ODM-K and are looking forward to supporting the Orange Democratic Movement again in the general elections. Before we do that, however, the leaders of ODM-K need to stop bickering and committing their efforts to personal agenda.
We need leaders who put the nation first, not just political figures interested in furthuring their political careers. It is indeed time for leaders like Kalonzo Musyoka to state whether they share the dream of ODM-K or whether there membership is prized for its nuisance value.
Personal differences between the Mwinyi North MP and Raila Odinga should be ironed out outside the party. With allegations of secret meetings with serving members of the cabinet, Kalonzo has proven to be an untrustworthy person.Who tells him that he can succed to be the torch bearer of ODM when the Kibaki government is backing him up. Kenyans are hardly blind, we have been watching the candidates from the beginning and this one is not to be trusted. How many times has he walked out on the opposition when they needed his vote in parliament? Let it be known to him that undermining other presidential nominees will not help him in any way. Let him come to us and and ask us for our votes and then we shall give him our piece of mind.
Armed with our voting cards, the youth of Kenya pray for peaceful ODM-K presidential nominations and for a peaceful general elections.

Poor guy, does he even sleep at night? It must take incredible stoicism to stand this, and still be chummy with all these types, slap their backs and act chummy.
