A continuing survey from Citizens Pathway Group finds that the Kenyan middle class is still thought not to contribute enough to Kenyan society.

Briefly, the top three areas for each response type are listed below:

According to the tallies, a small number of respondents felt that the middle class is doing better than expected in the areas of:

  • Mentorship
  • Employment & poverty alleviation
  • Civic education

The areas where we are doing okay (that is, our efforts match our numbers and resources):

  • Leadership at all levels
  • Integrity revival
  • Mentorship

Most respondents felt that our current level of involvement is insufficient (as is clear from the chart below). We are doing less than expected in the following areas:

  • Environmental health
  • Ethnic unity & good, accountable political leaders (tied)
  • Integrity revival

Finally, according to the responses thus far, the top three areas in which we are not involved are:

  • Good, accountable political leaders
  • Employment and poverty alleviation
  • Civic education

A Scribd rendering of the current results is available below, and you can participate in the survey here .
