Derived from a
portmanteau combining the words ‘can you imagine', KenyaImagine is set up as an
alternative media system, one that is free and policed not by editor prejudices
but by the common bounds of decency. We set out together to provide a platform,
for the promulgation of ideas in communion with Kenyans from around the world.
It is not
intended that a proscribed set of ideas or lifestyle dominate these pages, but
instead that an area of free-thinking, a fertile ground for the advancement of
liberating ideas is developed. We intend to specialize more than anything on
matters that would empower Kenyans, and especially the fields of politics,
business and economics, but there will also be sections serving less ponderous
topics. All Kenyans are encouraged to send in their contributions, whether
these are in the form of articles, images, sounds and comments on the efforts
of the participants.
We have
already constituted an editorial team, and a wealth of writing talent that will
continue to make every effort at turning out a steady stream of articles that
represents the whole spectrum of ideas on what is a confident and modern Kenya.
Where we started
KenyaImagine
was founded to address shortcomings in the standards and content of the
Kenyan media, especially its newspapers and magazines. Originally intended as a
political, economics, science and business magazine; KenyaImagine has seen fit
to expand itself outside of these major spheres and provide a platform for
creative writing, poetry and cultural reviews.
KenyaImagine
is a writers' colony, the poets' podium and the artists' gallery. It is also a
social networking site where users can share discussions on a more intimate
personal level, and build networks of acquaintances and friends with similar
interests.
Express
yourself, and draw from the wealth of knowledge and experience available from
your fellows. KenyaImagine is an idea lab.
Who are we
KenyaImagine
is a collaborative effort spanning the corners of the globe. Doctors,
Clergymen, Lawyers, Politicians, Students, Financial Analysts, we hope to
attract all of them to KenyaImagine.
KenyaImagine
is made up of four kinds of members. There are the ordinary public, registered
and authoring members, the honorary editors/ columnists (savants) and the
senior editors. It is intended with time that through elections, and the
assessment of writing quality a separate class of writers can be promoted up
the ranks every year, bringing a feel of democratic decision making to the
site, even as the partners themselves can control the smooth functioning of the
magazine. KenyaImagine
is its writers, and editors. KenyaImagine is you.
